Some of you may remember Obey Fojar from back in the day, my rather blatant knock-off of the propaganda stylings of Obey Giant. That site isn’t even online anymore, and although I have it archived, I’m not going to restore it because, wow, that’s some bad stuff. Take photo, run posterize photoshop filter, convert colors [...]
Dear Zoe, You are two years old, and it is absolutely crazy how much you have changed and grown lately. You’ve recently started going to Co-Op daycare, started jumping and doing somersaults, become fascinated with reading and writing, and singing and talking. You are always busy and high energy, and everyone thinks you’re adorable.
I just realized I haven’t been posting about Zoe much lately. I’ll try to make up for that with a few photo posts, but let me kick-start the process by sharing a few things:
I am eating well, learning a lot, and taking hundreds of photos. I’ll write up a review of An Event Apart on Wednesday and post more photos, but I had to share this one today. In the meantime, I’ve been posting on twitter.
For the fourth of July, we got Zoe dressed in her adorable little patriotic outfit and headed to the family cabin at the beach. Every year, people get their fireworks and set the off on the beach, and if you take a lawn chair down, you get a pretty good display. From the beach by [...]
The other day, Annie and I noticed that Zoe has just enough hair to put it into little tiny pigtails. As you can see, I was greatly amused by the results.
Birth: I was called home from work because your mom went into suprise labor 3 weeks early. After just a couple hours of pushing, you were born in the bathroom at 3:30 in the afternoon. You weighed 5 pounds, 5 ounces, and were 19½ inches long. Oh, and your mother nearly divorced me for trying [...]
Dear Zoe, You’re one year old! Your mom and I just finished giving you a bath, and now she’s nursing you to sleep while I write this. It’s hard to wrap my head around how much you’ve changed since the day you were born. I mean, it’s hard enough just to think of all the [...]
Zoe is one year old today! It’s hard to believe, I know. Here’s a photo I took this morning of her waving at me, and you can see all four of her teeth. And in case you feel like revisiting the event, here’s a link to Annie’s birth story and my birth story.
Hey Zoe, So much happened this month that it really feels like you’re trying to make up for lost time after being sick all through December. This month you’ve started playing several new games, you’re working towards talking and cruising, you started recognizing faces in photos and you are constantly interacting with the people around [...]
Dear Zoe, Between getting sick and everything that happened around Christmas, this was one of your busiest months ever. So much so, that I’m only just now getting around to writing your December newsletter, even though it’s nearly time to start on the January one. Still, I hate it when people posts excuses instead of [...]
Dear Zoe, Well, let’s see. This month you had your first Thanksgiving dinner at Eric and Jill’s. You caught a nasty cold and then gave it to your Mom and me. You developed a bit of separation anxiety. And it feels like I’m forgetting something. Something… Ah, yes, now I remember. You started crawling. Honestly, [...]
Annie: “I just wanted to let you know that I was right, she was pooping.” Scott: “This is the weirdest phone call I’ve ever received.” – Annie called me about ten minutes after I left the house to tell me this.
Dear Zoe, Writing these newsletters each month is daunting. I always feel like I’m struggling to find enough to write about, but by the time I’m done, I’ve managed to find plenty to talk about. This month, for example, you got your first tooth, said your first word (sort of), kissed your momma for the [...]
Dear Zoe, You had a busy month! You got your first vaccination, you ate your first solid food and you started sitting up – No wonder you’re tired! Right now you’re up North visiting Grandma Amy with your mom, while I stayed at home to play Halo 3 write this newsletter.
Dear Zoe, We just got back a couple of weeks ago from our fourth yearly anniversary trip with Dave & Rose and Urn & Kat. We went to the Running Y Ranch in Klamath Falls, and you had a lot of fun playing with your cousins Milo and Oskar every day. You and Milo, as [...]
Dear Zoe, We just got back from your second trip to the beach! It was your Uncle Corey’s 30th birthday, and he wanted to go to the Oregon coast. Two weeks ago, it was 102°. This weekend, on the other hand, it was in the 60s and pouring rain the entire time. Still, Uncle Corey [...]
Hi Zoe, During your fourth month, we took you to new places. You went to the beach cabin in Twin Rocks for the first time, and you went camping with us for your great-grandma Bev’s birthday. At the beach, we took you out to see the ocean a couple of times, but you were napping [...]
Dear Zoe, We will remember your third month as “the month with all the puking.” At least, I hope we will remember it that way, and not “the first of many, many months of puking.” Although, as I write that, I can hear every other parent in the world laughing at me, so maybe I [...]
(Sorry for the delay in posting this – I’ve been sitting on the draft for nearly four months now, planning to expand it, but it’s time to cut my losses and just post it as is.) Annie had been going to bed with her cell phone on the nightstand for the last two weeks, just [...]
Dear Zoe, It has now been two months since you were born… Well, actually, it’s more like two and a half. Things have been a bit hectic around here lately, and I wasn’t able to get the second newsletter written on time. With one month under our belts, your mom and I felt pretty confident [...]
Dear Zoe, I am blatantly stealing the idea for the “monthly newsletter that is addressed to the child” from Dooce. I would feel bad about this, but it’s too good an idea to let her have all the fun. You were born just over one month ago. You were three weeks early, and you freaked [...]
The Setting: Our heroes, Scott and Steve, have just pulled up in front of the local QFC to retrieve some bread and salsa. Parked directly in front of them is a car containing four 16-year old kids. They all look excited to see our heroes, and the driver jumps out of the car. scott: …and [...]
Sappy Lovesick Annoying Machines
I just finished reading Stephanie’s post and Scott’s reply and as I was changing my bookmark to reflect the new name of this site the thought crossed my mind that the name still wasn’t right. The rusty/rusted argument makes no difference to me. It is the “Killing Machines” part that I find somewhat odd. Perhaps [...]
